IMPORTANT CORONAVIRUS MESSAGE – UPDATE
Thank you for being so patient over the lockdown period. We appreciate the understanding our patients have shown over the last few months. With that said we are happy to welcome our patients back to Colinton Dental Practice from 23/06/20.
Unfortunately, this will not be a return to normal care. To minimise the risk of transmitting COVID-19 through our surgery there are a number of changes we have had to make to ensure the safety of you and our staff.
As per government guidance, initially we will be opening to see emergencies only. We will be working hard to catch up with the back log of patients who have called over the lockdown period and will continue to see new emergencies. Once this initial task is complete we will then be looking to finish off outstanding treatments.
At Colinton Dental Practice we care for Private, Plan and NHS patients. As such we have a number of different governing bodies, whose guidance we must adhere to. This guidance is to ensure your safety when being treated at Colinton Dental Surgery.
Private Patients: Initially will be seen for ALL emergency care at Colinton Dental Practice with a phased return to routine care and maintenance. There will be a fee for the appointment and treatment, as before, which will be discussed with yourself by the operating dentist.
Plan Patients: Initially will be seen for ALL emergency care at Colinton Dental Practice with a phased return to routine care and maintenance. No extra fees will be attached.
NHS patients: Following emergency assessment at Colinton Dental Practice if a non-Aerosol Generating Procedure (AGP) is identified this treatment CAN be carried out at Colinton Dental Practice. This includes:
Dressing of broken teeth/lost fillings
Some crown or bridge re-cements
However, if an Aerosol Generating Procedure (AGP) Is required this CANNOT be performed at Colinton Dental Practice and referral will have to be made to an URGENT DENTAL CARE CENTRE for treatment. These dental care centres have been set up around Edinburgh and will be facilitating this treatment need. These include treatments where a drill is required such as:
Opening/starting a root canal to relieve pain
Some crown or bridge re-cements
**Please note, as an NHS patient you CAN still (as was the case before lockdown) have your treatment completed privately at Colinton Dental Practice. As always, all options and costs will be given to you by your operating dentist which will allow you to come to an informed decision regarding your care.
